Orza for OVO customers

Your OVO tariff, planned into your battery every half hour.

OVO has no public way for other apps to read your account, so you enter your tariff from a bill, once. Orza then plans your battery around it every half hour. On one rate the battery’s work is your sun, and the plan makes the most of it.

Adding OVO

Your tariff from a bill, entered once.

OVO has no public way for other apps to read a customer’s account, so Orza can’t read yours. Setup asks for the few numbers it needs instead, and you change them in Settings if your prices change.

  1. Choose OVO EnergyIn setup’s Supplier step, after your battery is connected.
  2. Pick your tariff’s shapeOne rate if your price is the same all day, as on OVO’s fixed and variable tariffs. Economy 7, a day rate and a night rate, if your meter has two.
  3. Enter the ratesIn pence per kWh, from your latest bill or the OVO app, and the standing charge if you like. Then what you’re paid for export, or 0.
  4. Bring in your meter’s past, if you likeSign in to Bright, the free smart meter app, in setup’s Usage history step, and your past half-hourly readings come in. For just a few days, the OVO app downloads them a day at a time: Usage, View as table, Download data.
OVO tariffs

What Orza plans around on OVO.

Setup takes one rate, or a day rate and a cheaper night rate with its hours. OVO has had no tariff with cheaper hours for a battery since Battery Boost closed on 1 February 2026, so on OVO the plan works mostly with your sun.

  • One rate, fixed or variableThe same price all day. The plan stores the sun the house can’t use yet, runs the evening from it, and works out whether a spare kWh is worth more kept or exported.
  • Economy 7A day rate and a night rate on a two-rate meter. Enter the night hours on your bill, and the plan fills the battery in them.
  • Charge AnytimeOVO’s add-on for electric cars prices the car’s charging, not the house, so the plan works from your home tariff.
  • ExportOVO’s SEG is open to anyone, SEG Beyond Exclusive pays more if OVO supplies your electricity, and SEG Install Exclusive is for homes OVO installed. All three take homes with a battery. Enter the rate, and the plan weighs every kWh against what you would be paid for it.

What Orza does with it

A plan for the next 36 hours, remade every half hour.

Orza works out a schedule for your battery: when it should charge, hold its charge and run the house, across every half hour it can see at once. Each decision comes with the reason beside it, priced at your own tariff, and Savings shows what the plan would have cost against what your battery really did.

What the plan is made from

  • Your OVO tariffThe rates and hours you enter, the same every day until you change them in Settings.
  • Your homeHow much it uses and when, learned from your battery’s own readings, and from your meter’s past if you bring it in through Bright.
  • Your roof’s sunWhat your roof really made at the same times over the last few days, checked against the forecast.
  • Your battery’s lossesEvery kWh that goes through the battery loses a little on the way. The plan pays for that loss, so it only moves energy through the battery when the price difference covers it.

Questions

Before you add your OVO tariff.

The short answers. The technical FAQ covers how the connection works, how the plan is built and how the saving is scored.

What does Orza do on one rate?

With no cheaper hours to fill the battery in, the plan’s work is your sun: keeping it for the evening rather than exporting it cheaply, and Savings shows what that came to. A plan has most to work with on a tariff whose price moves during the day.

Why can’t Orza read my OVO account?

OVO has no public way for other apps to read a customer’s account. Octopus is the only supplier that gives customers a key for that, so for OVO you enter the tariff yourself, once.

What do I do when my prices change?

Change them in Settings. The plan uses the new prices from then on.

What does it cost?

Orza costs nothing during the beta, and no card is needed to join. Your tariff stays between you and OVO.
