Orza for EDF customers

Your EDF tariff, planned into your battery every half hour.

EDF gives customers no key for other apps, so you enter your tariff from a bill, once. Orza then plans your battery around it every half hour, and on GoElectric it fills the battery in the seven cheaper hours a night.

Adding EDF

Your tariff from a bill, entered once.

EDF gives customers no key for other apps to read their account, so Orza can’t read yours. Setup asks for the few numbers it needs instead, and you change them in Settings if your prices change.

  1. Choose EDFIn setup’s Supplier step, after your battery is connected.
  2. Pick your tariff’s shapeOne rate if your price is the same all day. Economy 7, a day rate and a night rate, if your tariff has cheaper hours: on GoElectric they are 23:00 to 06:00.
  3. Enter the ratesIn pence per kWh, from your latest bill or EDF’s app, and the standing charge if you like. Then what you’re paid for export, or 0.
  4. Bring in your meter’s past, if you likeFirst set your smart meter data preference to Half hourly in EDF’s MyAccount. Then sign in to Bright, the free smart meter app, in setup’s Usage history step, and your past half-hourly readings come in.
EDF tariffs

What Orza plans around on EDF.

Setup takes one rate, or a day rate and a cheaper night rate with its hours. That covers the EDF tariffs a home with a battery is most likely to be on.

  • GoElectric and Pod Point Plug & PowerEDF’s tariffs for homes with an electric car: cheaper electricity for the whole home from 23:00 to 06:00, seven hours a night since April 2026. Choose Economy 7 in setup and set the night hours to 23:00 to 06:00, and the plan fills the battery in them with what tomorrow needs after your sun.
  • Empower FixedFor homes that already have solar or a battery: a cheaper overnight rate for charging it. Choose Economy 7 and set the night hours to the ones your tariff gives.
  • One rate, fixed or variableThe same price all day. With no cheaper hours to fill from, the plan’s work is your sun: storing what the house can’t use yet, and running the evening from it.
  • Economy 7A day rate and a night rate on a two-rate meter. Enter the night hours on your bill, and the plan fills the battery in them.
  • ExportEDF pays for export on its Smart Export Guarantee tariffs, which take homes with a battery, and pays more if EDF also supplies your electricity or installed your system. Enter the rate, and the plan weighs every kWh against what you would be paid for it.

What Orza does with it

A plan for the next 36 hours, remade every half hour.

Orza works out a schedule for your battery: when it should charge, hold its charge and run the house, across every half hour it can see at once. Each decision comes with the reason beside it, priced at your own tariff, and Savings shows what the plan would have cost against what your battery really did.

What the plan is made from

  • Your EDF tariffThe rates and hours you enter, the same every day until you change them in Settings.
  • Your homeHow much it uses and when, learned from your battery’s own readings, and from your meter’s past if you bring it in through Bright.
  • Your roof’s sunWhat your roof really made at the same times over the last few days, checked against the forecast.
  • Your battery’s lossesEvery kWh that goes through the battery loses a little on the way. The plan pays for that loss, so it only moves energy through the battery when the price difference covers it.
How the saving is measured
Questions

Before you add your EDF tariff.

The short answers. The technical FAQ covers how the connection works, how the plan is built and how the saving is scored.

Read the technical FAQ
Is Orza a smart scheduler for GoElectric?

Yes. Every half hour Orza works out how much to fill the battery between 23:00 and 06:00 and when to run the house from it, from the forecast for your roof and how your home uses power.

Why can’t Orza read my EDF account?

EDF gives customers no key for other apps to read their account. Octopus is the only supplier that gives customers a key for that, so for EDF you enter the tariff yourself, once.

Does EDF’s Smart Charging change the plan?

No. It times your car’s charging, not the house, so Orza plans around your tariff’s own hours.

What do I do when my prices change?

Change them in Settings. The plan uses the new prices from then on.

What does it cost?

Orza costs nothing during the beta, and no card is needed to join. Your tariff stays between you and EDF.
