Your Octopus tariff, planned into your battery every half hour.
Connect your Octopus account with its API key and Orza reads your tariff, your export tariff and a year of your meter’s readings by itself. Then it plans your battery around those prices every half hour, whichever Octopus tariff you are on.
Connected with your Octopus API key. Your prices arrive by themselves.
Octopus gives every customer a key that lets another app read their account. Orza uses it only to read: your tariff, your meter and its readings.
- Find your API keySign in to your Octopus account online, open Personal details, then API access, and copy the key that starts sk_live_.
- Paste it into OrzaIn setup’s Supplier step, after your battery is connected. It is encrypted before it is stored.
- Check what Orza foundYour price region, your tariff and its code, the standing charge, your export tariff and your meter. On a two-rate meter you confirm the cheaper hours, because the account does not say them.
- A year of readings comes inYour smart meter’s half-hourly readings for the past year arrive by themselves, so the plan knows how your home uses power from the first day.

Whichever Octopus tariff you are on, Orza plans around its own prices.
Orza reads the tariff on your account and prices every half hour from the rates Octopus publishes for it, in your region. The battery’s job is different on each, and so is the plan.
- Agile OctopusA new price every half hour, following the wholesale market. Octopus publishes the next day’s between 4pm and 8pm, usually around 4pm, and the plan is remade every half hour, so it takes them in once they are out. It charges in the cheapest half hours, including any where Octopus pays you to use power, and runs the house from the battery through the dearest.
- Octopus GoCheaper electricity from 00:30 to 05:30 every night, for homes with an electric car. The plan fills the battery in those five hours with what tomorrow needs after your sun, and runs the house from it while the price is higher.
- Intelligent Octopus GoSix cheaper hours for the whole home, from 23:30 to 05:30, for homes with a compatible car and charger. Orza plans to that window. The extra cheap slots Octopus adds while your car charges are not known in advance, so the plan does not count on them.
- Octopus FluxMade for homes with solar and a battery: cheapest from 02:00 to 05:00 and dearest from 16:00 to 19:00, for what you buy and for what you sell. The plan tops up in the night, stores the day’s sun, and keeps charge for the evening peak, when it is worth most to the house or to export.
- Intelligent Octopus FluxOctopus runs a compatible battery itself on this one. Orza can still read it and show, in Monitor only, what its own plan would have done. Keep it there, so two planners never steer one battery.
- Cosy OctopusFor homes heated by a heat pump or electric heating: three cheaper windows a day, 04:00 to 07:00, 13:00 to 16:00 and 22:00 to 00:00, and a peak from 16:00 to 19:00. The afternoon window lets the battery fill just before the peak, and the plan uses it.
- Octopus TrackerOne price for each day, which follows the wholesale market. With no cheaper hours inside a day, the plan’s work is your sun: storing what the house can’t use yet and running the evening from it.
- Flexible, Fixed and Economy 7One price all day, or a day and a night rate on a two-rate meter. On one price the plan stores your sun; on Economy 7 it also fills the battery in the night hours you confirm.
- Your export tariffOutgoing Octopus pays one rate, Agile Outgoing a price every half hour, Prime Outgoing more in the evening peak, and Flux its own export rates. Orza reads which you have and weighs every kWh against what you would be paid for it. No export tariff with Octopus? Setup asks whether another company pays you.
- Power UpsWhen Octopus gives free electricity for a set window, Orza reads it from your account and plans to fill the battery in it.
Tariff hours as Octopus publishes them, October 2026.
A plan for the next 36 hours, remade every half hour.
Orza works out a schedule for your battery: when it should charge, hold its charge and run the house, across every half hour it can see at once. Each decision comes with the reason beside it, priced at your own tariff, and Savings shows what the plan would have cost against what your battery really did.
See the app, page by pageWhat the plan is made from
- Your Octopus pricesYour tariff’s published rates for your region, read by themselves. A new day of Agile prices, or a Power Up, needs nothing from you.
- Your homeHow much it uses and when, learned from a year of your meter’s readings and from your battery’s own.
- Your roof’s sunWhat your roof really made at the same times over the last few days, checked against the forecast.
- Your battery’s lossesEvery kWh that goes through the battery loses a little on the way. The plan pays for that loss, so it only moves energy through the battery when the price difference covers it.
Before you connect Octopus.
The short answers. The technical FAQ covers how the connection works, how the plan is built and how the saving is scored.
Read the technical FAQIs Orza a smart scheduler for Octopus Agile?
Yes. Every half hour Orza works out a schedule for your battery from Agile’s prices for your region, the forecast for your roof and how your home uses power, and takes in the next day’s prices once Octopus publishes them. Each half hour has its reason beside it.
Can Orza change my Octopus tariff?
No. Orza uses your key only to read your account. If you move to another Octopus tariff, connect Octopus again so Orza reads the new one.
Do I have to be with Octopus?
No. Orza plans around British Gas, OVO, E.ON Next, EDF and ScottishPower tariffs too, which you enter from a bill. Octopus is the one supplier that gives customers a key for other apps, so only its prices arrive by themselves.
Which Octopus tariff is best for my battery?
Orza doesn’t choose your tariff. It plans around the one you are on and shows what the plan saved on it. A plan has most to work with where the price moves most during a day, as it does on Agile.
Is my API key safe with Orza?
It is encrypted before it is stored, and only Orza’s server can unlock it, to read your account. You can make a new key in your Octopus account at any time, and the old one stops working.
What does it cost?
Orza costs nothing during the beta, and no card is needed to join. Your tariff stays between you and Octopus.
